The Quitman Chamber of Commerce staff is dedicated to serving our members and supporting the local business community. From daily operations to events and initiatives, our team works to provide resources, build connections, and promote growth throughout Quitman.

Megan Whitworth serves as Executive Director of the Quitman Chamber of Commerce, where she supports local businesses, fosters community engagement, and advances economic development across the Quitman area. She brings more than a decade of experience in communications, marketing, media, and chamber leadership, with a strong focus on strategic storytelling and community connection.
Whitworth previously served as Communications Manager for the City of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and as Director of Marketing and Communications for the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce. Her background also includes work in publishing and media, where she developed a passion for highlighting the people and stories that make communities unique.
With deep roots in East Texas, Whitworth is proud to serve a community that feels both familiar and close to home. She is passionate about supporting small businesses, building strong partnerships, and creating opportunities that help Quitman grow and thrive.

Marlene is the friendly face behind the Chamber’s day-to-day operations. As Office Coordinator, she assists members, supports events and communications, and helps keep everything running efficiently. She enjoys connecting with the community and making every visitor feel welcome.
Marlene and her late husband, Gary Ovard, moved to Quitman in 1991, where they opened Clear Lakes Restaurant, now known as Anacona, and later operated Gutter Helmet of Northeast Texas. After Gary’s passing in 2012, Marlene sold the businesses and shifted her focus to serving the community.
She became involved with Kiwanis and the Quitman Chamber, where she was named Ambassador of the Year and later established the Chamber’s Ambassador Program. She led the program until January 2026 and continues to serve as an Ambassador.
Marlene remains active in Kiwanis, helping maintain the basketball court at Jim Hogg Park and supporting initiatives like the children’s library, where kids can take or donate books. Through her work and volunteer efforts, she plays a key role in supporting local events and promoting Quitman.
Marlene is proud to now serve the Chamber in an official role, where she enjoys greeting visitors and sharing all that makes Quitman special.
